Beatty Introduces Homeless Veterans Legal Services Act

U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) recently introduced the Homeless Veterans Legal Services Act, H.R. 1993, legislation to allow the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to partner with public and private entities to increase legal services for homeless and at-risk of homelessness veterans. Congressman Steve Stivers (OH-15) and Congressman Pat Tiberi (OH-12) are the lead cosponsors of the Homeless Veteran Legal Services Act.

Brown Blasts Trump Plan to Slash Housing Assistance for Low-Income Urban and Rural Communities

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) – ranking member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs – today blasted President Trump’s proposal to cut the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s budget by more than $6 billion and eliminate programs critical to maintaining the nation’s supply of affordable housing. Kasich Announces Appointment to Cleveland Municipal Court, Housing Division

Governor John R. Kasich announced the appointment of Ronald J. O’Leary of Cleveland (Cuyahoga Co.) to serve as a judge on the Cleveland Municipal Court, Housing Division. O’Leary will assume the bench on April 10, 2017, and must run in November 2017 to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends January 1, 2020. O’Leary is replacing Judge Raymond L. Pianka, who passed away.

Central Ohio Housing Report – January 2017

Central Ohio saw 2,473 homes go into contract during the month of January, up 24.5 percent from the previous month, and 4.4 percent higher than a year ago. There were 2,170 central Ohio homes and condos added to the market in January. Although this was 47.8 percent more than the previous month, it was 2.2 percent lower than January 2016, leaving the inventory at 4,329 according to the Columbus REALTORS Multiple Listing Service.

While the 2017 housing market was marked by renewed optimism fueled by stock market strength, higher wages and a competitive environment for home sales, 2018 maintained the competitive housing market amid less than stellar stock market performance and rising interest rates while housing affordability dipped to a ten-year low.
