Ohio EPA is helping eligible Union County homeowners repair or replace failing home sewage treatment systems (HSTS) with a $300,000 principal forgiveness loan to Union County Health Department. This state initiative, which is part of Ohio’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF), will improve the quality of life for local residents by eliminating failing HSTS at an affordable cost.

Beatty Tours Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus
On June 19, 2017, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) took a hard-hat tour of the Veterans Memorial and Museum, which is under construction in Columbus, Ohio, with Congressmen Steve Stivers (OH-15). Enthusiasts of the lower Great Miami River watershed will have an opportunity to be part of a citizens’ water quality monitoring program thanks to an $18,822 grant from the Ohio Environmental Education Fund (OEEF). The grant was awarded to Rivers Unlimited – one of eight Ohio communities and organizations to receive a total of $239,941 to support environmental education programs.
Stivers Reintroduces SAFE Transitional License Act
This week, Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH) reintroduced the SAFE Transitional License Act. This bill changes the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE) by providing regulatory relief for loan originators in an effort to make a smooth employment transition between bank and non-bank entities. Brown Releases County-By-County Data of Ohio Complaints Against Abusive Mortgage Servicer

Sherrod Brown (D-OH) – ranking member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee – applauded recent action by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) against Ocwen Financial Corp. The CFPB alleges that Ocwen, one of the nation’s largest nonbank mortgage servicers, for years “engaged in significant and systemic misconduct at nearly every stage of the mortgage servicing process.” Ocwen has been the subject of several enforcement actions and more than 23,000 CFPB complaints, including 675 complaints from Ohioans.
