Congresswoman Beatty Helps Lead Unanimous Passage of Bipartisan Bill to Assist Credit Union Customers

Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) helped lead the successful House passage of the Capital Access for Small Community Financial Institutions Act of 2015, H.R. 299. The legislation will allow privately-insured credit unions to apply for membership in the Federal Home Loan Bank System, thereby providing individuals and businesses greater access to credit in a tight credit-market. H.R. 299 is being led Congressman Steve Stivers (OH-15) and Congresswoman Beatty, and passed the House unanimously.

Local Students Named Winners in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District Art Competition

Congressman Steve Stivers (R – OH) yesterday congratulated Jasmine Haraburda, Michael Dick, Cassidy Boyuk and Selena Dornfeld for placing in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District Art Competition. The competition awards ceremony was held at The Columbus Museum of Art on April 8, 2015 and there were 245 pieces of artwork under consideration for the top prize.

Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) is pleased to announce the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a three-million dollar grant to the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) to implement a Jobs-Plus Pilot program. Research based on a 5 year demonstration project has shown that when properly implemented, the Jobs-Plus program produced substantial increases in residents’ earnings. Higher pay levels were sustained even when residents left public housing and were no longer in the program. The program also increased employability skills, successfully bringing some unemployed residents into the workforce.
