Brown Announces Nearly $197,000, $425,000, $430,000 and More Than $55,000 in New Federal Funds to Provide Housing Assistance

Housing Assistance for Homeless Dayton Veterans, Columbus-Area Veterans, Cincinnati and Butler County and Toledo Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 21, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced new federal funding to provide rental assistance paired with clinical services for homeless veterans in the Columbus area as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) voucher program. The Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority will receive $309,342 and the Fairfield Metropolitan Housing Authority will receive $115,320. Brown is ranking member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced new federal funding to provide rental assistance paired with clinical services for homeless veterans in Cincinnati and Butler County as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) voucher program. The Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority will receive $386,009 and the Clermont Metropolitan Housing Authority will receive $43,318. Brown is ranking member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.

Brown is ranking member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced $196,759 in federal funding to provide rental assistance paired with clinical services for homeless veterans in Dayton as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) voucher program. Brown is ranking member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.

“Even one homeless veteran is too many. Our veterans have earned our gratitude and we cannot stand by while some of them face life on the street,” Brown said. “The housing assistance provided through HUD-VASH is an important investment in ensuring that all veterans have a place to call home.”

Through the HUD-VASH program, the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority will provide critical rental assistance while working in partnership with the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center to provide case management and clinical services to approximately 55 homeless veterans in Columbus. The Fairfield Metropolitan Housing Authority will partner with the Chillicothe VA Medical Center’s Lancaster Community Based Outpatient Clinic to serve approximately 25 veterans in Fairfield and Lancaster.

As the only Ohio Senator to serve a full term on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Brown continues to work to address issues facing Ohio veterans. Brown served on the veterans’ conference committee to negotiate the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014, legislation signed into law August 7, 2014 to ensure accountability at the VA while improving the delivery of health care provided to our nation’s veterans.
