Sen. Brown Announces Federal Resources To Maintain Critical Infrastructure In Brown County
U.S. Department of Agriculture Funds Will Be Used to Construct New Units of Affordable Rental Housing in Brown County
WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 17, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — New federal resources will provide for the construction of 43 units of affordable rental housing in Brown County. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced today that Ashley Grove Senior Residence in Brown County will receive an $837,000 loan from the USDA Rural Development branch’s Rural Rental Housing Guaranteed Loan program.

“It can often be difficult for rural communities to fully fund critical infrastructure projects like rental housing,” Brown said. “These funds from the Agriculture Department will help Brown County develop affordable housing facilities for those who need it most.”

According to the USDA, the Rural Rental Housing Guaranteed Loan Program was established to increase the supply of moderately-priced housing in rural areas. The 43 new units will be reserved for tenants making less than 50 or 60 percent of area median income.
Brown is the first Ohioan in over 40 years to serve on the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. He serves as the Chair of the Agriculture Subcommittee on Jobs, Rural Economic Growth, and Energy Innovation.
