OHFA’s Homeownership Programs provide quality, affordable housing options for Ohioans during National Homeownership Month

COLUMBUS, OH – June 15, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) offers a number of diverse programs that promote sustainable homeownership. OHFA’s First-Time Homebuyer Programs have supported over 130,000 low-to moderate-income families as they achieve their homeownership dream. From Down Payment Assistance, to Target Area Loans, Ohio Heroes and Mortgage Credit Certificates, OHFA’s programs are designed to incentivize Ohioans to make the transition to successful homeownership.

“We are a trusted resource, working with our partners and stakeholders to give borrowers the financial help they need to open the doors to an affordable place to call home,” said Doug Garver, OHFA Executive Director. “We are committed to this mission and we are proud to support homebuyers across the state.”

Ohio’s first-time homebuyers may obtain down payment assistance through OHFA to reduce the out-of-pocket expenses associated with buying a home, allowing borrowers to save for future mortgage payments. In addition to down payment assistance, OHFA provides 30-year fixed mortgage loans at a competitive interest rate.

Many Ohioans qualify for OHFA’s First-Time Homebuyer Program such as recent college graduates, veterans, Ohioans who have not owned a home in the past three years, and borrowers who purchase a home in a targeted area.

Visit OHFA’s website at www.ohiohome.org or call 888-362-6432 for more information on OHFA’s Homeownership Programs.

OHFA utilizes federal and state resources to provide housing opportunities for families and individuals through programs designed to create, preserve, and manage affordable housing throughout the State of Ohio. The Agency is a self-supporting quasi-public agency governed by an eleven-member board, nine of whom are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Two additional seats on the board, by statute, are reserved for the Director of Development and the Director of Commerce, or their designees, and both serve as ex officio voting members.
