COLUMBUS, OH – October 26, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) was recognized for its work in the affordable housing industry during the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) annual awards ceremony held Monday. The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with NCSHA’s annual conference held in Orlando, Florida.

OHFA submitted narratives on several of its programs in areas including homeownership, human resources and development to be considered for NCSHA’s annual awards. As a finalist in several categories, OHFA’s work was reviewed by fellow housing finance professionals in other states.

“I continue to be extremely proud of the important work that OHFA accomplishes for Ohio families,” said OHFA Executive Director Doug Garver. “OHFA is honored to be recognized as a finalist among our peers in the affordable housing community for our mission to help families with low- to moderate-incomes obtain affordable housing.”

Garver serves on NCSHA’s Board of Directors that leads efforts to coordinate and leverage federal advocacy for affordable housing affecting each state and the nation.

Since 1983, OHFA has served as the state’s affordable housing leader, providing housing opportunities for Ohio’s first-time homebuyers, renters, seniors, veterans and others who might not be able to obtain quality housing otherwise. In more than 29 years, OHFA’s multifamily programs have facilitated the creation of more than 89,000 rental housing units and its mortgage loans have assisted more than 142,000 families to purchase a home.
