OHFA PROMOTES EQUAL ACCESS TO AN AFFORDABLE PLACE TO CALL HOME DURING FAIR HOUSING MONTH

COLUMBUS, OH – April 1, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Designated as Fair Housing Month, April is recognized nationwide as a time to commemorate the advancements in making equal access to affordable housing available to every American regardless of race, color, religion, sex, nationality, familial and military status, disability or ancestry.

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) is devoted to providing a means for Ohio families to open the doors to an affordable place to call home. “With over 28 years committed to advocacy for fair housing and advancing affordable homeownership opportunities across the state, OHFA understands the importance of equal access to housing and the significant impact that it has on creating a better quality of life in our communities,” said Doug Garver, Executive Director for the Agency.

OHFA is an essential resource for all Ohioans desiring affordable homeownership. The Agency ensures that every Ohioan is given an equal opportunity to obtain safe, decent and affordable housing through a number of programs. OHFA’s first-time homebuyer program has provided 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages for more than 140,000 homeowners. The Agency has also aided in the development of over 1,400 affordable properties with more than 77,000 rental housing units in Ohio since 1987.
