Latta On Clean Power Plan Hearing

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 8, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Subcommittee on Energy and Power, issued the following statement regarding the subcommittee’s hearing regarding the EPA’s CO2 Regulations for New and Existing Plants.

“Make no mistake, the Clean Power Plan is merely a rebranding of the Administration’s failed, rejected “Cap and Trade” legislation. This is another example of the President looking to build a legacy rather than lasting, commonsense policy that will benefit the American public.

These rules will fundamentally change the way we generate, transmit, and consume electricity in this country. Inevitably, it will be hardworking Americans and their families who will bear the true costs in the form of lost jobs, higher energy bills, and a decline in the reliability of our electrical grid.

EPA Acting Assistant Administrator Janet McCabe testified here today that these rules were shaped by ‘a process of unprecedented outreach and public engagement’. I’ve seen little evidence to support this, given the overwhelming objection and rejection from states across the country regarding its implementation.”
