WASHINGTON, DC – April 13, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Congressman John Boccieri (D-Alliance) today announced the Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Authority awarded nearly $2.5 million in Recovery funding to Medina County for the design, construction and renovation of local transit facilities, providing needed bus storage and shop space so as to service vehicles in addition to improved office areas.

“These funds modernize Medina’s local transit system and improve the region’s economy by creating jobs to do it,” said Boccieri, a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. “By investing in this transit facility, we make travel to and from Medina safer, and more reliable. This is not only a down payment to make traveling in Medina easier; it’s an investment in our local commerce which helps grow our economy.”

These funds, made possible through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), go toward constructing new buildings to provide storage for busses and shop space to make sure the vehicles are running properly. The funds also enable Medina County transit operators to improve operational efficiency to enhance service for County passengers.
