OHFA Board Approves $3.5 Million for Affordable Housing Communities Across the State

COLUMBUS – September 21, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) Board yesterday awarded $3.5 million through the Housing Development Assistance Program (HDAP) to provide flexible, low-interest financing for affordable housing developments. Funding for HDAP comes from the federal HOME program and the Ohio Housing Trust Fund (OHTF). The developments receiving HDAP funds include:

  • Heatly Crossing in Bidwell, Gallia County – $750,000 in HDAP
    Heatly Crossing involves the acquisition and rehabilitation of a housing community for families in Bidwell, Gallia County. The community includes 32 flat-style units in a single one-story building and four two-story buildings. Upgrades to the property will include the replacement of siding, windows and shutters, and roof shingles. All units will receive new fixtures and appliances, carpeting and furnaces. Site upgrades will allow for enhanced accessibility for persons with physical disabilities.
  • Ralston Square Apartments in Defiance, Defiance County – $750,000 in HDAP
    Ralston Square Apartments involves the acquisition and rehabilitation of a housing community for families in Defiance, Defiance County. The development includes 50 flat- and townhouse-style units in six two-story buildings. Upgrades to the units include new furnaces, water heaters, flooring, kitchen cabinets, countertops and appliances. Site work will include a new community room, playground and community garden, new washers and dryers, and walking trails.
  • Union Square in Lima, Allen County – $1,250,000 in HDAP
    Union Square involves the new construction of a 48-unit permanent supportive housing community for the homeless and other populations with special needs in Lima, Allen County. The development will include on-site management, security system and a comprehensive supportive services package for residents that will include counseling, case management and psychiatric services.
  • Point Village Apartments in Russels Point, Logan County – $750,000 in HDAP
    Point Village Apartments involves the acquisition and rehabilitation of a 58-unit housing community for both families and seniors in Russels Point, Logan County. The community consists of four two-story townhome-style buildings for families on the north portion of the site and four single-story cottage-style buildings for seniors on the south portion of the site. The work on the property will include the construction of two new community buildings, one for families and one for seniors. The community is located within walking distance to several restaurants, businesses and Indian Lake State Park.
