Cleveland, OH – February 1, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Continuing a long-standing tradition for philanthropic giving, the newly instated Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Cleveland Area Board of REALTORS (CABOR),  George J. Pofok, CCIM, SIOR, has selected the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Northern Ohio Chapter as the official 2010 CABOR charity.

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Locally, the University Hospitals of Cleveland/Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital is a CF Foundation accredited care center.

“I am privileged to be in a position to give back to the community and to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation carry out its mission to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis, and improve the quality of life for those who have the disease,” explained Pofok. “I am also inspired by the philanthropic leadership of my predecessor, 2009 CABOR Chair Dianna Hosta-Sitckney, who helped to raise more than $6,000 for The Gathering Place, a caring community for those touched by cancer.”

CABOR will participate in the Great Strides Walk, a local flagship fundraising event for cystic fibrosis on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. CABOR will also plan to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through its own association events.

Community volunteers can get involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation  Northern Ohio Chapter Cleveland area office by calling (216) 292-4437 or sending an E-mail to northernOH (at) cff (dot) org. For more information about the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, visit http://www.cff.org
