Brown Announces Federal Resources For Renewable Energy Development In Stark County

USDA Rural Development Grant will Install Solar Power System at Alliance Recycling Center, Inc. in Alliance

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 22, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — New resources have been awarded to a business in Stark County to install a new solar power system. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that a Rural Energy for America Program Grant (REAP) of $140,360 has been awarded to Alliance Recycling Center, Inc. from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development agency. The grant will allow Alliance Recycling Center, Inc. to install a 116 kilowatt photo voltaic solar power system that will generate 119,742 kilowatt hours annually.

“Businesses and manufacturers in Northwest Ohio are leading the way when it comes to the innovative use of solar energy,” Brown said. “These new resources will help the Alliance Recycling Center to make the necessary updates to maintain modern, energy-efficient operations.”

Brown, Chair of the Subcommittee on Jobs, Rural Economic Growth, and Energy Innovation, has held more 170 roundtables throughout the state, and is the first Ohioan to serve on both the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry and the Senate Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee.
