Affordable Housing Leaders to Kick Off the 14th Annual Ohio Housing Conference November 27 in Columbus

COLUMBUS – November 16, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Affordable housing professionals from Ohio and across the country will soon gather at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on November 27-29 for the 2012 Ohio Housing Conference.

“The affordable housing industry has an overwhelming impact in lives of Ohio residents, communities and the economy,” said Doug Garver, Executive Director of the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA). “The Ohio Housing Conference will provide attendees with an opportunity to network, share experiences and brainstorm strategies to strengthen the industry.”

One of the largest statewide housing conferences in the country, the event hosted by OHFA and the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) will attract more than 1,500 attendees.

“It is a pleasure to work with OHFA to host the premier event for affordable housing professionals,” said Hal Keller, President of OCCH. “I look forward to the innovative strategies and ideas that will be explored to help continue to improve the industry.”

The conference will feature more than 40 industry-related sessions along with networking opportunities. In addition, attendees will gain insight on economic, federal and state policies affecting the housing industry during morning plenary sessions scheduled daily.

The Tuesday State Plenary will feature Brooke Cheney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Governmental Policy Group, Inc.; Tracey Plouck, Director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health; Christiane Schmenk, Director of the Ohio Development Services Agency; and Jim Weiker, Real Estate and Home Reporter for the Columbus Dispatch.

The Wednesday Federal Plenary will feature William Faith, Executive Director of the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO); Judith Kennedy, President and CEO of the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders; Michael Novogradac, Managing Partner for Novogradac and Company, LLP; and Garth Rieman, Director of Housing Advocacy & Strategic Initiatives for the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA).

The Thursday Ohio Economic Forecast Plenary will feature Edward W. Hill, Dean and Professor of Economic Development at Cleveland State University; Daniel Hogan, Director of Research at Red Capital Group; Beth Riley, Senior Vice President of George K. Baum & Company; and Kristi Tanner, JobsOhio Managing Director for Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive, and Aerospace & Aviation.

Stuart Rothenberg, Editor and Publisher of the Rothenberg Political Report will serve as the keynote speaker on Wednesday, November 28 at 12:30 p.m.

The William J. Graves Ohio Housing Excellence Award will be presented during Tuesday’s Luncheon to Habitat for Humanity of Ohio. Presented in honor of the late William J. Graves, the award is given to an individual or organization for their continued dedication to our shared mission to increase the quality and availability of affordable housing opportunities for Ohio families.
