OHFA BOARD APPROVES OVER $4.8 MILLION FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS, INCLUDING $1.2 MILLION TO BUILD SHELTER FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
COLUMBUS – October 23, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — On Wednesday, October 21, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) Board approved $1.2 million to help COMPASS Family and Community Services develop a new 36-bed emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. Sojourner House will serve men, women and children from Youngstown and the greater Mahoning area and will house a minimum of 100 individuals per year
Other developments approved for funding include:
Whitmore Arms Apartments, Dayton, Montgomery County, for the rehabilitation of 40 garden-style units in six two-story buildings for families with extremely low incomes
The Village at Town Center, Tallmadge, Summit County, for the construction of 48 units in a four story building for low- and moderate-income families.
Changing Destinies, Massillon, Stark County, for the development of 10 units of permanent supportive housing for homeless youth, ages 18-24, with a diagnosed mental illness or co-occurring disability, such as substance abuse, developmental disabilities or other health issues
