Congressman Tim Ryan Statement on DOE Ending Piketon Uranium Enrichment Project Contract

-

Warren, Ohio – September 16, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Tim Ryan made the following statement in response to the United States Department of Energy’s announcement to end Piketon uranium enrichment project’s contract:

I am deeply disappointed by the Department of Energy and this decision that will be devastating to the Piketon community and will put hundreds out of work in southeastern Ohio. As a member of the Appropriations Committee I supported the inclusion of $100 million in funding for the American Centrifuge Project next year, which passed the House but never got a vote in the Senate – unfortunately current funding is set to run out at the end of the month. I will continue to work with the Ohio business community to do everything in our power to ensure that the Piketon facility can continue to do its important work and transition to operate commercially.
