Expanded ThankfulHome.org now helps Hamilton, Brown and Clermont county residents find affordable and emergency housing

DAYTON, OH – June 1, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — As part of National NeighborWorks Week (June 5-11, 2011), St. Mary Development Corporation has updated its searchable affordable housing database to include Hamilton, Brown and Clermont counties. The database already included eight Ohio counties: Butler, Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren.

With the new additions to the directory, it now includes more than 170 housing resources sorted into 23 program types, such as low-income senior apartments, emergency housing, foreclosure prevention and housing for people with disabilities. The directory can be found at www.ThankfulHome.org/directory.

“It’s often difficult for people who need a safe, decent place to live to connect with housing programs,” said Tim Bete, St. Mary Development’s Communication Director and editor of ThankfulHome.org. “Our database makes it easier to find an appropriate housing program in your area. In May alone our directory was visited more than 650 times.”

Organizations can add their housing programs to the database by contacting Bete.

St. Mary Development Corporation (www.StMaryDevelopment.org) is southwest Ohio’s largest non-profit provider of high-quality, affordable housing. Over the past 22 years, they’ve created more than 2,500 housing units and prevented more than 1,400 foreclosures. St. Mary Development has been a chartered member of NeighborWorks since 1999.

NeighborWorks America (www.nw.org) creates opportunities for people to improve their lives and strengthen their communities by providing access to homeownership and to safe and affordable rental housing. In the last five years, NeighborWorks organizations have generated $20 billion in reinvestment in their communities. During National NeighborWorks Week (June 5-11, 2011), local NeighborWorks organizations mobilize tens of thousands of volunteers, businesspeople, neighbors, friends, and civic leaders in a week of neighborhood change and awareness.
