Boccieri Announces More Than $4.6 Million For Medina, Stark, Wayne Counties’ Public Housing Agencies

WASHINGTON, DC – June 29, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative John Boccieri (D-Alliance) today announced the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development awarded more than $4.6 million in grants to Medina, Stark and Wayne Counties through the 2010 Capital Fund Program.

“These funds give our public housing developments the tools they need to best serve our communities,” Boccieri said. “Our communities need these grants to provide safer, more energy efficient living conditions for our neighbors.”

Mike Williams, Executive Director for the Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority said, “The Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority uses Capital Improvement Funds to make capital improvements to our Public Housing units based on needs assessments in accordance with our Annual Contributions Contract and Five Year Plan to assure quality housing and energy sustainability.”

The Capital Fund provides funds annually to the Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) for capital and management activities, including modernization and development of public housing. Stark County MHA received more than $4.2 million; Medina County MHA received nearly $92,000; and Wayne County MHA received more than $315,000.
