Brown Announces More Than $17.6 Million in Funds for Green Housing in Cleveland
WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 25, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced $17,687,509 in funds for the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Garden Valley Phase III project. The federal funds, made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), are specifically designated for the creation of energy-efficient public housing development.
“These funds will help improve energy efficiency of housing in Cleveland, lowering costs and creating clean energy jobs,” Brown said.
Brown is working to position Ohio as the Silicon Valley of Clean Energy Manufacturing. Earlier this year, Brown introduced the Green Energy Production Act to invest in energy-efficient buildings in communities throughout Ohio and the nation.
