DIVISION OF REAL ESTATE AND PROFESSIONAL LICENSING ALERTS LICENSEES TO BE ON GUARD AGAINST BOGUS COMMUNICATIONS

-

Columbus, OH – December 22, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) – The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing is alerting its licensees to be on guard against communications falsely portrayed as originating from the Division. These bogus communications have been delivered by e-mail and telephone to licensees regulated by the Division.

The Division licenses Ohio’s real estate brokers and salespersons in addition to licensing and certifying general and residential appraisers.

Official notices from the Division are sent to licensees by certified mail. If a licensee receives communication by other means indicating they are in violation of license law, directing them to appear in court, or otherwise, they should call Division Attorney Laura Meechan at 614-466-5384. She will verify if the notice is legitimate.

The Division is investigating this matter. Licensees are encouraged to contact Ms. Meechan if they have any information as to who may be issuing this false information.
