CITY OF MILFORD TO RECEIVE GRANT MONEY TO HELP PLAN FOR DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT

-

Columbus, OH – June 13, 2008 Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher today announced that the City of Milford (Clermont County) received a $10,000 grant to help create a redevelopment plan for the City’s central business district. The funds will be awarded through the Comprehensive Downtown Revitalization Tier One Program, which is administered by the Ohio Department of Development.

“The vibrancy of a community’s downtown is a vital asset in attracting new investment,” said Lt. Governor Fisher, who also serves as Director of the Ohio Department of Development. “The State is pleased to support this downtown revitalization project, which will be an essential component of economic prosperity, job creation, and quality of life in the City of Milford.”

The $20,000 project will enable the City to complete a market analysis and develop a plan to revitalize its downtown.

The Comprehensive Downtown Revitalization Tier One Program provides assistance to eligible communities for the development of downtown revitalization planning documents. Applications are rated against the following criteria: adequacy and comprehensiveness; evidence that problems will be addressed by the proposed planning document; evidence that the plan will result in the development of a Comprehensive Downtown Revitalization Tier Two Program grant application; degree to which the planning document will result in downtown revitalization; and assurance that the proposed activities are reasonable.
